Shannon came to Army Defense from the hillbilly musical tradition of North Georgia. He studied contemporary banjo with Fiddlin' John Carson, Moonshine Kate, Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers. Shannon's ever present smile and lack of shoes bring a down-home "earthy" feel to every recording session. Shannon is a documented "genius" of piano (www.geniuspianoplayers.com) despite being shielded from the instrument until his baptism in 1999. Even though Shannon is very much alive, he is an angel in the army of God and has giant 6 foot high wings that he sometimes unfurls during heated "jams". Shannon is sometimes referred to as the Gentle Bear. |
